Lizzy was suggested to me as a doula by several friends who highly recommended her. My husband and I first questioned the need of having a doula during birth ("the hospital staff are completely capable; my husband can hold my hand; why have more people in the room?"), but as the weeks ticked by and I read more and more about labor, with a goal of an "all natural" birth, we decided to "interview" Lizzy. Her warm and natural way puts me at ease, which I knew would come in handy during the throes of labor, and her knowledge of the birth process was evident from her previous experiences.
She joined us for my two births: one c-section (including an attempted medical cephalic version to turn the baby) and one VBAC. In addition to her bag of tricks to help with pregnancy related discomforts during routine visits before the births, she was essential to our comfort (emotionally and physically) during each hospital visit. Lizzy was by our side to fetch blankets and water, making both my husband and I were comfortable. Lizzy provided us encouragement, hugs, and space when we needed it. As a bonus, she even acted as our photographer sometimes, capturing our family's once in a lifetime moments. She stayed with us throughout the entire duration of each birth, even as medical staff changed shifts.
After each birth, she remained with us until we were completely settled in our recovery room. She also gave additional breast feeding tips and assisted with diaper changes. Once she saw we were settled, she gave us that much needed space, so we could rest and have quite family time. Once back at home, Lizzy visited a few more times to make sure we were all settled. We greatly appreciated her visits, and love hanging out with her!

As soon as I found out that I was pregnant, I started my search for a Doula. I was referred to Lizzy by a mutual friend, and when we met I knew immediately she would be the perfect person to guide me on my birthing journey. Lizzy supported and encouraged me and my wishes for a natural birth, while gently reminding me to keep an open mind.
When my due date came and went Lizzy was bringing clary sage essential oil to my home and giving me massages, reminding me to stay positive. Through labor Lizzy was an amazing advocate for me, and developed a great relationship with the nurses on duty. Even when I chose to get an epidural due to many different circumstances Lizzy was there for me, and helped me make the decision that was right for me and my baby.
After my son was born and I was having a hard time nursing she came to my house with books, suggestions and words of encouragement. I cannot recommend her enough, and am so thankful that Lizzy was with me during that amazing, scary and emotional time
